Week of October 3 - 7, 2011

Mrs. Kleshock's Homework Bags
This week starts the first week of homework in Mrs. Kleshock's Room.
Look for your child to bring home a Homework Bag on Monday, October 3rd.
The Homework Bag will be sent home on Mondays and should be returned to school on Fridays with the completed assignments.
The only work that needs to be returned to school are the assignments listed on the Homework Sheet stating: Return in Homework Bag on Friday.
In this week's bag in addition to the Homework Packet I have attached a cover letter explaining how the Homework Bag works and skills/concepts we have been working on in Math, Reading, and Language Arts since the second week of school. I have also put in the bag sight words that can be kept at home and used as flash cards and 4 activity games that can be kept at home and used to practice skills we have gone over in our Reading Street reading series.
Please make sure your child prints their name at the top of each assignment that is returned to school.
Homework Bags will be sent home the beginning of each week and assignments will also be posted on Mrs. Kleshock's Blog page.

Welcome to the 2011-2012 School Year!

Welcome to Mrs. Kleshock's First Grade Class!!!
Mrs. Kleshock is excited to meet all the new first graders on the first day of school, Tuesday, September 6, 2011.
Students will bring home a manilla envelope on Tuesday of important papers parents need to complete and return to school with your child.

Week of May 31 - June 3, 2011

Dear Parents,
I will be providing the class with lunch on the last day of school, Friday, June 3rd. You will not need to worry about packing your child's lunch or purchasing lunch on that day. The students will be given a lunch of cheese or pepperoni pizza, a fruit item, a drink, and a dessert.
I have enjoyed working with your child this school year! Have a safe and peaceful summer!

Spelling Words for the Week of May 18 - 25, 2011

Last spelling test of the year!
Mrs. Kleshock's class is working on spelling words this week that have "ie" and "igh" making the long "i" sound in words. This will be the last spelling test of the year. The spelling test is Wednesday, May 25, 2011. Below are the spelling words:

**Look for spelling words to come home Wednesday, May 18th, in the purple folder.

Last Spelling Test

The last spelling test will be given on Wednesday, May 25, 2011. I will send home the spelling words this Wednesday, May 18th. Look for the spelling words to come home in your child's purple folder on Wednesday.

Week of April 11 - 15, 2011

Look for spelling words and homework to come home in the Wednesday Yellow Folder on April 13th. Spelling test will be given and homework will be due on Tuesday, April 19th. Spelling words will be posted this coming Wednesday.

Week of April 4 - 8, 2011

News from Mrs. Kleshock's room for the Week of April 4 - 8, 2011 **There is not a homework folder this week. **Mrs. Kleshock's class will shop at the Book Fair on Thursday, April 7th, from 9:20 - 10:05 in the morning. There will not be any Library class on Thursday. **Spelling Test is on Friday, April 8th. Spelling words this week end with either "-ng" or "-nk". Week of March 28 - April 1, 2011

Mrs. Kleshock's class will not have a spelling test this week. The Green Homework Folder will go home on Monday, March 28th, and is to be returned on Friday, April 1st.

Spelling Words for the Week of March 14 -18,2011

Mrs. Kleshock's class is working on spelling words this week that have the long "e" sound. This week's spelling words have "ee" in the middle of words or at the end of words making the long "e" sound and words that are CV with one "e" at the end making the long "e" sound.
This week's spelling test will be given Friday, March 18th. Spelling words went home on Monday, March 14th, in the Green Homework Folder.

Week of March 7 - 11, 2011

There will NOT be a new spelling test this week. On Friday, March 11th, there are a few students that need to make up their spelling test from Thursday, February 24th. Those students know who they are and the words were sent home Monday, March 7th. The words are also listed below:

Mrs. Kleshock's class has been hit hard with illness the last 3 weeks, so hopefully we are all on the mend. Mrs. Kleshock will not be sending home a homework folder this week. The next new spelling test will be given on Friday, March 18th. Words for that spelling test will go home on Monday, March 14th. The homework folder will also resume on Monday, March 14th.

Mrs. Kleshock's class is working on long /u/ words this week in spelling. Our spelling words following the CVCV pattern with a long /u/ sound in the middle and silent /e/ at the end of each word.
We will take our spelling test on THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2011. (Students do not have school on Friday, February 25th, because there is a Teacher In-Service for West Clermont teachers.) The spelling words are listed below.

February 14, 2011: Happy Valentine's Day!

There will NOT be a spelling test the week of February 14-17, 2011. Student's will bring home their spelling words for their next spelling test on Wednesday, February 16, 2011. Mrs. Kleshock's class will take their next spelling test on Thursday, February 24, 2011.

There will not be a homework folder this week. Keep practicing counting combinations of dimes, nickels, and pennies at home. Student's are working on telling time to a quarter past the hour and a quarter to the hour.

There is NO SCHOOL on Friday, February 18th, and Monday, February 21st, because it is Winter Break for the West Clermont School District.
