Week of October 3 - 7, 2011

Mrs. Kleshock's Homework Bags
This week starts the first week of homework in Mrs. Kleshock's Room.
Look for your child to bring home a Homework Bag on Monday, October 3rd.
The Homework Bag will be sent home on Mondays and should be returned to school on Fridays with the completed assignments.
The only work that needs to be returned to school are the assignments listed on the Homework Sheet stating: Return in Homework Bag on Friday.
In this week's bag in addition to the Homework Packet I have attached a cover letter explaining how the Homework Bag works and skills/concepts we have been working on in Math, Reading, and Language Arts since the second week of school. I have also put in the bag sight words that can be kept at home and used as flash cards and 4 activity games that can be kept at home and used to practice skills we have gone over in our Reading Street reading series.
Please make sure your child prints their name at the top of each assignment that is returned to school.
Homework Bags will be sent home the beginning of each week and assignments will also be posted on Mrs. Kleshock's Blog page.

Welcome to the 2011-2012 School Year!

Welcome to Mrs. Kleshock's First Grade Class!!!
Mrs. Kleshock is excited to meet all the new first graders on the first day of school, Tuesday, September 6, 2011.
Students will bring home a manilla envelope on Tuesday of important papers parents need to complete and return to school with your child.

Week of May 31 - June 3, 2011

Dear Parents,
I will be providing the class with lunch on the last day of school, Friday, June 3rd. You will not need to worry about packing your child's lunch or purchasing lunch on that day. The students will be given a lunch of cheese or pepperoni pizza, a fruit item, a drink, and a dessert.
I have enjoyed working with your child this school year! Have a safe and peaceful summer!

Spelling Words for the Week of May 18 - 25, 2011

Last spelling test of the year!
Mrs. Kleshock's class is working on spelling words this week that have "ie" and "igh" making the long "i" sound in words. This will be the last spelling test of the year. The spelling test is Wednesday, May 25, 2011. Below are the spelling words:
1. lie
2. tie
3. high
4. might
5. right
6. night
7. bright
8. light
9. pie
10. tight
**Look for spelling words to come home Wednesday, May 18th, in the purple folder.
***The last set of sight words will also be coming home in the purple folder on Wednesday, May 18th. These are the words for the last three units.

Last Spelling Test

The last spelling test will be given on Wednesday, May 25, 2011. I will send home the spelling words this Wednesday, May 18th. Look for the spelling words to come home in your child's purple folder on Wednesday.

We are off school for spring break Thursday, April 21st, and Friday, April 22nd.

Look for spelling words and homework to come home in the Wednesday Yellow Folder on April 13th. Spelling test will be given and homework will be due on Tuesday, April 19th. Spelling words will be posted this coming Wednesday.
